They flee from their countries, from sub-Saharan Africa. They flee from poverty, from droughts, from war. In short, they flee from hunger. After a long and dangerous journey across the Sahara desert, those who manage to reach Morocco are one step away from the longed for "paradise". And suddenly they realize that waiting for their dream turns into a nightmare.
Due to its geographical situation, Morocco is an important transit point for immigrants who cross the Maghreb on their way to Europe. In recent years and due to the policy of externalization of European borders, Morocco has progressively transformed by default into a country of migratory destination to Europe. The situation of migrants is particularly precarious in Morocco because of their social status, their irregular administrative situation and linguistic and cultural barriers, aspects that also impede their access to health care. These vulnerable personnel are regularly victims of police arrests, robberies and assaults of all physical and sexual nature, mostly committed by human trafficking networks and by the Moroccan police.
Many of the sub-Saharan migrants in Morocco have tried and are trying to reach Europe by jumping over the border fences of Ceuta and Melilla or embarking on a boat to cross the strait of Gibraltar.
Aware of the difficulty and danger posed by these access routes, tired to risking their lives, to suffering aggressions, to ending over and over again in hospitals and to living in terrible conditions, they do not cease their efforts to get to live in a something more dignified.

Huyen de sus países, del África subsahariana. Huyen de la pobreza, de las sequías, de la guerra. En definitiva huyen del hambre. Después de una larga y peligrosa travesía por el desierto, los que logran llegar a Marruecos están a un paso del ansiado “paraíso”. Y de repente se dan cuenta que la espera de su sueño se convierte en una pesadilla.
Debido a su situación geográfica, Marruecos es un importante lugar de tránsito para los inmigrantes que atraviesan el Magreb de camino a Europa. En los últimos años y debido a la política de externalización de las fronteras europeas, Marruecos se ha transformado progresivamente por defecto en un país de destino migratorio hacia Europa. La salud de los migrantes es particularmente precaria en Marruecos a causa de su condición social, de su situación administrativa irregular y de las barreras lingüísticas y culturales que obstaculizan su acceso a la atención sanitaria. Estas personas vulnerables son con regularidad víctimas de arrestos policiales, robos y agresiones de toda índole física y sexual, cometidas en su mayoría por las redes de tráfico de personas y por la policía marroquí.
Muchos de los migrantes subsaharianos que están en Marruecos han intentado e intentan llegar a Europa saltando las vallas fronterizas de Ceuta y Melilla o embarcándose en una patera para cruzar el Estrecho.
Conscientes de la dificultad y peligro que suponen estas vías de acceso, cansados de arriesgar sus vidas, de sufrir agresiones, de acabar una y otra vez en los hospitales y de vivir en pésimas condiciones, no cesan en su empeño para llegar a vivir de una manera algo más digna.
