BETWEEN THE WORLDS
Location: Cuba, Havana
Project Date: Aug 19, 2020

BETWEEN THE WORLDS - is a photo project which I started in 2019 in Cuba. This Caribbean island, called the pearl of the Antilles, is a place where two worlds collide for me, where time has stopped on one side, and at the same time, through a slightly open door, the new is trying to break in. It is a very complex world with a dissonance between the ideals of a revolution and the contemporary reality. I am interested in this moment of passing and sliding of these worlds - a utopian model of reality with the dichotomy of human life and the peeking out of the present. I have reached for black and white photos for a reason. In this way, I wants to emphasise the political and economic situation in Cuba. When I photographed the streets of Havana, I saw the paradox of living in a socialist paradise, where the only right path to freedom is a system which was supposed to create a new human being but broke him.
