»3rd Generation« is an symmetrically planned project about youth within the middle-east conflict, realized by Iuna Vieira (photography on the Israeli side), Mafalda Rakoš (photography on the Palestinian side), and Raphael Reichl (graphic design).
It deals with the individual realities of lives of teenagers in both west bank and Israel. Its aim is to offer an authentic and personal perspective on how young Israelis and Palestinians deal with the conflict; a collection of stories, thoughts and feelings, told through pictures, interviews and other texts.
Therefore we, 19 years old ourselves, aspired to build strong relationships via social media with our protagonists in advance. A big network of friends, acquaintances and other contacts was waiting for us on the ground to welcome us with an overwhelming generosity and warmth.
We decided to split up and travel the area separately, with one photographer meeting Israelis and the other Palestinians.
The interviews and photographs taken were edited and presented in a complex double-book, one for the Israeli side and one for the Palestinian side. They are connected and seperated at the same time.

We hope to cooperate with a publisher in the near future. Any support is welcomed!
