Following the success of my published project Somerset Stories Fivepenny Dreams, I am looking to return to the area in which I spent my childhood. I wish to continue and expand my study of life in the south west of England though the experience of young families, individuals and the older generations, allowing the documentation of their lives and their relationship with their environment.
Whilst I have stayed in strong contact with the families and friends I have made there, I am keen to spend a focused and uninterrupted period of time on this project, casting the net wider than just the detailed area I chose to work in last time. I am excited to draw comparison between the diversity of life in the coastal areas, cities, and rural countryside. In addition to stills I am collecting recordings and interviews in order to expand the project with multimedia.
Never has the spirit of self sufficiency and entrepreneulism been so strong as I feel it is now. Against the tide of collapsing economic infrastructure in this area I witness a collective resurgence of thought and creativity that I am curious to witness and share.
