I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Michael Bakker, a physician assistant in Anchorage who is the primary advanced care provider for 8 remote Alaskan villages, which he visits by bush plane—and most recently, to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine.
Southcentral Foundation, the tribal hospital in Anchorage where Bakker works, has been so successful in its vaccination efforts that on the day I took this photo, it had opened its vaccine clinic to anyone over the age of 40—a first for Alaska, which has led the nation in vaccine distribution.
