We begin by postulating what we understand as victim, Is it self imposed or as societal defect? And what does it leave behind...scars.
Scars are indentations of recorded memories which might be sad, sweet or indifference, yet stamped as imprinted value(s). We have physical scars and emotional scars; how do they register in our consciousness? Do they elevate or are they retrogressive in their effect? Are they ephemeral or sustained deeply in our consciousness? Are they still opened or healed wounds? How do they dictate our daily approach to circumstances, favourably or unfavourably?
Ebunoluwa Akinbo through this portfolio tries to probe the efficacy of scars as reminders, both as a physical imputation and as an abstract understanding that defeats the notion of pain as a sad memory as against pain and scars as challenges that strengthens our vulnerabilities.
She tries to create contrasts of scars as imputations that aids our maturity and growth processes by photographing scars on coverings (skins and trees).
In this portfolio, we begin to see a seekers mind that sees the duality in our existence… life is a contrast.
