I photographed this series during my usual visit to Jerusalem in March 2020, just a week or two before the travel visits were closed, before the partial shut down of the whole country, before the numbers of coronavirus began to grow very harshly and fast. . Now it feels like a long-long time ago. From the current view of the progression of the worldwide situation, I think back about these days with some feeling of nostalgia. The freedom of doing is visible and understood fully only when we lost this freedom of doing. but enough about that. The sellers of the old City market already started complaining about the lack of sellers – mostly tourists, looking for exotic souvenirs, goods, and stuff. Some big groups of tourists still walked along the narrow streets but seem like were less interested in buying.
These were a few different reasons to make this series colorful. First of all – I shot RAW, so the colors are always available. Another reason – in all these moments the colors are not beautiful, oversaturated spots or distracting blot, but something that carries information in these colors and not interfere with the geometry of the forms creating compositions.
