Falling from an overcrowded train, motorcycle accidents, construction related injuries, gangrene, dealing with consequences of poliovirus or malnutrition...
These circumstances might result in a lost leg. Unfortunately, these occurrences are part of daily life for many people in India. Not being able to afford necessary treatment, quickly turns a physical injury into a life of struggle and isolation.

One person stood up to the challenge. After barely surviving a severe car accident, D.R. Mehta understood the struggles people face. This motivated him to establish the BMVSS in 1975. Today the world's largest organization rehabilitating over 1.55 million. All free of charge. Receiving a limb and necessary aid empowers the patients to regain self-respect and become fully integrated, contributing members of their communities, achieving goals that would otherwise be unattainable.
