Water is a basic human need and human right, but our accessibility to clean water plays a major role in our interaction, gratitude, and connection to water. On the banks of the Ewasigo River, I walked with a handful of children from the matriarchal village I was staying with for two weeks to collect jugs of water for cleaning. The kids could barely contain their excitement and joy to play in the murky water.
Joy is contagious. We played in the water for thirty minutes before packing up and walking back to the village.
