The six-day event for the second edition of the Mango Art Festival, 3-8 May 2022, has finally closed its curtains. With a new festival theme and a brand-new venue hosting the event, we experienced the same magic we felt last year. It was a remarkable turnout, creating the bustle and excitement we needed in the Thai art scene following the disastrous impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years.

The Mango Art Festival 2022 was another huge success. The six-day gathering drew a large crowd! It was wonderful to see old friends and to make new ones. The Mango Art Festival team deserves a standing ovation for their incredible amount of effort.

This year, the Mango Art team relocated to a new venue: River City Bangkok (RCB). Located in the middle of Bangkok, RCB is considered Asia’s premier destination for contemporary art, decor, and design, making it the perfect location for Mango Fest’s!

My Exhibited Works

For the 2022 festival, I chose to showcase a new piece titled Beautiful Stranger to share the most recent development in my creative journey. It references a stranger I met randomly on the street during my ongoing artistic journey of self-discovery. The work was created through an experimental hybrid of analogue and digital photography, and included printing, painting, multiple exposures, and layering – establishing a new production process for my work. I am excited about this body of experimentation, and I plan to continue exploring it in future pieces.

A selection of artworks from Crossing Boundaries and Saving Face were on display at the festival.

Crossing Boundaries is based on my experience of learning to renegotiate my relationship with the customs and conventions of society. It is a series aiming to convey thoughts, ideas, and perspectives on transcending life's boundaries.

Saving Face series touches upon the conservative nature of Thai society and reflects on the emotional journey of the past two years.

On the last day of the festival, I met this incredible group of students from the Poh-Chang Academy of Arts in Bangkok, Thailand. They shared that they had recently tried to visit multiple times, but only finally managed to connect. They came to show their support and brought me these gorgeous flowers as a gift! I was so humbled, honoured, and impressed by their encouragement and positivity. Students like you are the reason I continue to work so hard and share my work. I sincerely hope you all visit again soon.

Brief Talk

During the festival, I had the privilege of talking to Khun Podduang Charoen, this year’s fair manager, about my creations, inspirations, and excitement around being back at the festival for the second time. The interview was in Thai, but I had it translated into English. Please turn on your subtitles to see it.

Thank You Very Much

I would like to thank everyone who attended the event to support the art community in Thailand. Without this, such a memorable experience would not have been possible. Kob Khun Mak Krub.

That's a Wrap!

Thanks so much for reading! This blog was a bit longer than most, but I’m excited to be back at it and share my work, thoughts, and inspirations with all of you.
