RENCONTRES ARLES FESTIVAL

Exhibition 01/07 - 29/09 2024

Mondays to Sundays 10:00 am-7:30 pm

The exhibition explores the complexity of engagement through the prism of migration, globalization, and identity crises. Through these projects, the artists offer a committed approach to issues ranging from social movements and the fight against police violence to the questioning of security systems and the human and ecological tensions caused by electronic waste. The exhibition also probes our personal engagement with society and the search for meaning in our daily lives, revealing our desires, beliefs, and deepest fears.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the photography prize awarded by the Manuel Rivera-Ortiz Foundation, a tribute will be paid to Camille Lepage. Despite her tragic death, her talent as a photojournalist remains etched in our memories. Her unwavering commitment to bearing witness to the often unknown realities of the world deserves to be celebrated and honored.

Brightly colored skaters wove a narrative by sequencing miniature rectangular frames that approximated motion by blink, blink, blinking on a screen. This, of course, illuminated both the unimaginable and the painstakingly spatial. The event, suitable for the currant bloodstream, was on par with now. Always and only, now. Operatives frequented makeshift macros, transcripting vast vigilantes with whom they sought consult. Metropolis unbound.
