March the 2nd marks in the Republic of Moldova the "Day of Remembrance" (Ziua memoriei) and, since 2021, also "of Gratitude" (și recunoștinței): this date is the anniversary of the beginning of the war on the Dniester river (1992). It commemorates the fallen heroes and gives thanks to the survivors of the armed conflict which took place among the Republic of Moldova and Transnistria.
