Summary
The Asian jumping worm, Amynthas agrestis, is an invasive species causing problems in New England. These worms, also known as crazy worms or Alabama jumpers, have a smooth, glossy, gray or brown body and engage in parthenogenetic reproduction. Their invasion disrupts native ecosystems and affects forest structure, understory vegetation, and nutrient cycling.
