About
My name is Michael Yuanhao Deng. I am a 19-year-old director and screenwriter based in NYC. Now, a lot of mainstream media portray stereotypes and emphasize on entertainment. I wish to make films to inspire ― infusing the world with hope while inviting the audience to reflect deeply about social issues.

In the past, my documentary “Family Under the Roof” was released by the Children’s Channel of China Central Television. It helped raise the middle school tuition for its main character, Yong Wang, won Best Documentary at Scout Film Festival, and was screened at Austin, Long Beach Indie, and CICFF. “Under the Windhorse” was nominated for Best Documentary at Scout 2019 and premiered at Catalina Film Festival. My short film “I’m Your Brother” is a Best Drama Nominee at AAHSFF and an Official Selection at Scout 2019. Earlier this year, I was invited by Olay, P&G to direct a short film for its “White Swan” campaign in China. Thanks to the exposure that Scout Film Festival has brought to my works, I was discovered by Director Ramaa Mosley and am now represented by Adolescent Content, a global GenZ media agency.
