In my head are the thoughts we share about isolation, suffering, and death.  Things that terrify me compel me to keep moving outside of the comfort zone, using the camera to see what lies under the surface. And still, be safe.  I walk the empty streets searching for signs of life. What is happening? Are we seeing the road ahead with clarity? Are we prepared? Or, are we too apathetic to give a holy shit about what we cannot see?
Yesterday the death toll in NY hit 10,000... thinking about the dead and their loved ones and how they cope. I take pictures. Photographers are compelled to look and make decisions about what to include in the frame. Mostly we go forth in foreign lands.  This new assignment is pushing us to look harder at our own lives. Documenting my life was as natural as breathing. Now it is a strategy for living stronger in the time of coronavirus. STAY SAFE AT HOME. Right now photographing Tribeca is my work. Printing pictures of Tribeca to raise funds for Sanctuary for Families, a service provider for victims of domestic violence, is my fuel. The silver lining in the cloud is that I am also helping the US Postal Service by sending out the packets of pictures from my local Postal company. The virus has changed our lives in countless ways. I believe we can do more for others and over the days I will share those thoughts.
Today I will leave you with this.  In spite of the hard times, this being the worst natural disaster we could never imagine, the virus lockdown is giving us a way to connect with the ones we love. To be more present in our homes. To help each other more than ever.
