My interest in style was supported by my mother who, in her turn, was influenced by her paternal grandmother, a dressmaker from Ukraine. My great grandmother,after losing her husband in a Ukranian pogrom, supported herself and her infant son as a dressmaker in New York.
Luckily, my mentor, Lisette Model, supported my appreciation of stylized imperfection.
