In the aftermath of the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, family members and supporters of January 6 rioters, for almost three years now, have been holding a nightly vigil in front of the D.C. Central Detention Facility in Washington, where the so called J6-ers are imprisoned, awaiting their conviction. Under the watchfull eyes of police in several patrol cars they stream their meetings live online, pray, have phone conversations with the inmates and speak out their hope that president elect Donald Trump will pardon the J6-ers on January 20, 2025, the day of his inauguration. Here the vigil participants are praying in a circle. On the left, holding his Make America Great Again hat, Ben Pollock, from Lakeland, Florida, who’s adult children Jonathan and Olivia are in the jail. He traveled with them to D.C. on January 6, but stayed outside the Capitol building, while they went inside. On his left, wearing a blue jacket, Brandon Fellows, 30, who was released in May 2024, after having been convicted of one felony count of obstructing the joint session of Congress and multiple misdemeanors, spending nearly three years in prison. In the early days, hundreds used to show up to this vigil, now only a handful of diehards appear.
