Spain // Land of Colour
From North to South and East to West, thousands gather every year all over Spain to celebrate their uniqueness and diversity.
Every Pueblo (town) has its own fiesta, which may have its roots in the Catholic church or reach still further back to pagan times. Often paganistic ritual becomes imbued with Christian significance and a rich variety of local traditions emerges. The fiestas usually end up as an explosion of colour and joy and they offer a chance to reconnect with a collective past of deep religious and mythological significance. Modern Spaniards are keen to preserve these traditions as a way of passing on their cultural heritage.
