Project Text
Since I've known him, I ask about his age every time he has a birthday, his answer is always the same: 13.8 billion years. This work is the result of four years of coexistence with the "magician" and his community, the utopia community of an outbreak.
Iván, alias Nvai SuSu is the magician in this project that shows a community united by land, exchange and partying. I approached them at the end of 2019, at a time of political instability in Ecuador, at that time I found myself reading a book titled: “Jung and the Tarot” by Sallie Nichols and the "magician" card described in the book as the archetype that symbolizes the potential creative and destructive spirit that we all have, a revealing being that moves between miracles or tricks, capable of manipulating nature to dominate its energies, inhabiting objects, animals and whose dark side can be deceptive, there was my thoughts accompanied me for several months until I found Ivan, or perhaps, he had guided me.
The following photographic series is the result of four years of coexistence with the "magician" and his community, the utopia community of an outbreak.
“When separation from nature becomes extreme, the number of sick people increases. Then the desire to return to nature becomes stronger. But in the search for a return to nature there is no clear concept of what this is, so the attempt is in vain.”
-Masanobu fukuoka- The revolution of a blade of straw.
