Experiencing change is liberating. I have come to the realization that my unique voice had been oppressed to the point that I started to repress my own validation. In my series Closure, I am addressing my journey of becoming familiar with my personal stance. I am understanding how negative influences have come into my live, while also coming to terms with toxic and traumatizing situations I experienced as a child and young adult. I have been inspired to not limit myself in the display or techniques incorporated in my art. Using photography, video, and installation as my tools, I tell my story through striking imagery, color relations, and metaphoric scenarios. Today I am fighting back, using my voice as an empowered female artist. This series is a declaration of my strength, acceptance, and validation.
