WE CARE
Recently I was on an assignment by Oxfam international for a campaign under “we care”. This campaign is driven towards reinventing unpaid domestic work or care work whereby it should be a collective effort in a home characterized by all family members sharing the domestic activities evenly amongst themselves other than sticking to the usual norm of having women and girls doing all the home activities. In addition, the even distribution of work saves time and offers women and girls more time to attend to other personal initiatives that are quite fundamental towards their social and economic growth among other aspects.
In accordance with the photo essay is a case study of Obalim Alex Quimby (44) and Akello Concy (39 ) a family of 8 based in Unyama sub-county , Gulu district in the northern region of Uganda as they narrate the benefits that come from proper collaboration with in a family in regards to domestic work and why more families should adopt a similar strategy.
