The Vjosa, Europes last wild and free-flowing River is threatened by planned hydropower-plants along its 270 km route from the greek mountains to the mediterranean sea.

The Vjosa, Europes last wild and free-flowing River is threatened by planned hydropower-plants along its 270 km route from the greek mountains to the mediterranean sea. If dams are build it would change the flow and ecosystem forever.Local activists are fighting against the threats and for the creation of a national park, but the faith of europe's last wild river is still uncertain.Although hydropower is often seen as a green energy it huge impact on biodiversity and even methane-emissions. In the Balkan region over 3000 hydropower plants are planned to be build in the next decade, wich will have huge impact on the nature and biodiversity in the region.
