In July 2020, photo editor Shannon Simons from the New York Times Magazine sent me on a two-day photo assignment to Christchurch, New Zealand, to photograph Behrouz Boochani. Behrouz (born 23 July 1983) is a Kurdish-Iranian journalist, human rights defender, writer and film producer.
