Summary
A non-profit based in Asheville, NC, delivered 50 donated tiny homes to families displaced by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina.

On a rainy, cold Tuesday night, BeLoved volunteers delivered a tiny home to single father Chris Gardner and his two sons - eleventh grader Damien and sixth grader Caleb. The family’s home in Barnardsville was damaged when trees fell during Hurricane Helene. (The mother of the boys lost her home when the mobile home park where she lived was destroyed).

Gardner, his sons, and two dogs are currently living in a small camper on property below where their house stands. Because of the camper’s size and lack of space for his boys, Gardner moved a small shed onto the property to turn it into a room for the boys. When he learned about the tiny home donated by Lowe’s, Gardner was thrilled.

“What more can I ask for,” said Gardner excited about the tiny home’s arrival. “This gives me time to tear my place down and rebuild.”

BeLoved volunteers Thomas and Anndria Thorne delivered the tiny home in the dark as the rain fell. The home features a set of large bunk beds, a small kitchen, a toilet, and shower.

(BeLoved is a local non-profit that serves the underprivileged and underserved in the Asheville area).
