Floating in the Great Salt Lake

According to scientists, the Great Salt Lake is shrinking. Droughts and years of water being redirected for human use has caused what could one day be a catastrophe for the area. Millions of migrating birds use the lake as a food source. And if the lake dries out, humans are at risk due to arsenic levels in the lake bed soil which can be blown about by the wind. I visited the Great Salt Lake last fall and the first thing that hits you is the smell from the hydrogen sulfide. It also feels very desolate and apocalyptic with its barren landscape but also very beautiful. You can easily float in the lake due to its high salinity.
