Pfas are chemical compounds used to make textiles, paper, coatings for food containers, photographic film, fire fighting foams, household cleaners.
In 2013, some aquifers in the Veneto, Italy, were poisoned by Pfas. The Miteni company, which spilled waste directly into a river, was held responsible for the ecological disaster.
The compounds, present in significant concentrations in ecosystems and living organisms, are currently linked to cases of male infertility, premature births, autism, cardiovascular problems.
Mother No Pfas Organization and former employees are civil parties in the ongoing trial against Miteni-Icg Mitsubishi
