Pinhole photography as a tool for self-research
For four years, Luca Baldassari, a pinhole photographer, has been engaged on a daily basis in a series of activities aimed at supporting people in a state of disability, promoting their inclusion. Through the images proposed, he witnesses the experiences of those who share his experience as an educator, offering those who have chosen to be portrayed a new possibility, that of wearing other clothes and playing different roles. Thus, social workers regain color, light and energy, recharging themselves from the difficulties and efforts of their difficult work as weavers of relationships. Each image reflects an instant that is unrepeatable, as each gesture made by the protagonists is unique and unrepeatable. The photographic procedure used, with its long exposure times, allows us to activate circuits similar to those that autobiographical writing evokes: it allows us to distance ourselves from the object and therefore a deeper look, it promotes reflection and the construction of new meanings, in an attempt to see what we had forgotten about ourselves, giving us back that playful dimension necessary to approach the other with the attention and passion they deserve.
