Mandana Mahdavi is a British-Iranian documentary photographer, currently based in the USA. After attending the London Institute of Photography, she began work on a project exploring modern masculinity. Her work was featured in a group exhibition at the Free Range Shows held at The Old Truman Brewery in London. In 2021, she was selected to participate in the Eddie Adams Workshop XXXIV and was awarded the Documentary Arts Fellowship for her project, This Place Called Home, a multimedia piece on an urban regeneration development in Clapton, during the pandemic. She is an alumna of the International Center of Photography’s Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism program, where she was the recipient of the Director’s Fellowship. In 2023, her ongoing project, ÂME, earned an honourable mention by the Lucie Foundation in the Emerging Artist category and was a finalist of The Alexia Grant. Mandana’s work is distinguished by her dedication to long-form, community-centered storytelling, delving into themes of identity, resilience, and social justice while uncovering the psychological undercurrents that shape human experiences.
