The project aims to document the large-scale urbanization in the Yangtze's region. This is an ongoing project and the part presented here looks at the urbanization in the city of Chongqing, located in the south west of China.
Chongqing is the first main city of the Yangtze river. It is the biggest municipality of the world with more than 30 million inhabitants. The rural exodus to Chongqing is a sign of the path that china is following and how the world is moving from a rural population to an urban population.
The rapid transformation of the city is so incredible that in the last five years eight bridges, eight highways and eight rail lines have been built. City development chiefs boast that they are spending $1 billion a month on new constructions and they plan to continue this pace for the next ten years.
