Another assignment from the MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography. The brief, if I recall, was quite broad: go somewhere and come back with a story that gives a sense of place and people. I visited Leicester Race Course, about an hour from where I live. It was an early spring day and was pretty cold and grey at the beginning, but the weather changed suddenly and, unusually for the UK at this time of year, a large amount of snow suddenly fell, resulting in the cancellation of the last race of the day (and my favourite photo from the collection of a girl trying to catch a snowflake in her mouth while the punters around her queue for the refund of their stakes for the final (cancelled) race.
