"A Sacred Unity" Exhibition at Xposure Photo Festival's Global Focus Project

The Global Focus Project brings together photographic works from around the world, exhibiting projects from one female and one male photographer representing each of the 6 continents: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Europe, and Oceania. I'm grateful that the judging committee recognized the importance of the work the Apache Stronghold is undertaking, and chose to have this project represent North America as one of just two stories from the entire continent. This will bring the fight for Oak Flat to a truly global audience.
It feels especially significant in light of the Apache Stronghold's recent filing of their court case with the US Supreme Court on September 11, as they fight for the right of not only Indigenous people, but all people, to have their spiritual connection with the Earth recognized. Extractive industry, including mining done by the same corporations which want to destroy Oak Flat, is causing environmental destruction, desecration, and displacing people around the world. It is not just a local issue - it affects the whole planet.
