I am really thrilled to become a National Geographic Explorer!
I'm grateful to NGS and all National Geographic contributors for believing in my work.
With the support of the National Geographic Society, I will go to Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego to retrace the paths that the great scientist Charles Darwin took to make the greatest scientific discovery in history: The Origin of Species.
We never arrived alone, so I thank all the people who took positive actions and pushed me forward, especially my wife @jerusabv who never stopped believing in me.
I dedicate this step in my career to the fellow explorers of The Explorers Club and to those who have inspired me since childhood. Cory Richards, James Cook, Eric Shipton, Marco Polo, Ernest Shackleton, Thomas Bridges, Ibn Battuta, Amelia Earhart, Joseph Rock, Mike Fay, Amyr Klink, Tom Abercrombie, Roald Amundsen, Douglas Mawson, Jill Seaman, Robert Fitzroy, Robert Draper , Marshal Rondon, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Theodore Roosevelt, Jane Goodall…
Since our species set foot in Africa 60,000 years ago, the urge to go beyond the known, to discover lands and opportunities, has shaped human culture. This impetus continues.
