Ali Abbas (Nad-e Ali), is an autodidact visual artist based in Lahore, Pakistan. Within his practice, he focuses on questions of alienation, belonging, and the self-effacing in-between-ness that haunts all spaces. He embeds his practice within the marginalized and the peripheral, and documents ritualistic engagements and cultural phenomena as an anthropological means to record and to sustain the subaltern every-day. Ali sees this as a necessary means to reterritorialize ideas of nationhood, all while attempting to engender a legitimate sense of community.

Abbas has experience working in a multitude of artistic projects in various capacities. As a photographer, his work has been featured in various publications like The Guardian, The Caravan, Vice Magazine, Herald Magazine and EOS Dawn. He has been exhibited nationally and internationally in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, UAE, France and USA since 2012.

Abbas is also founder and co-editor at Dounumberwhich is an absurdist comic and photography zine. It carries and presents stories in Urdu, Punjabi and English from the dregs of Pakistani society.
