Joni Vorpsi, an ornithologist working for PPNEA, an NGO based in Tirana that works on environmental and wildlife protection around the country. Vorpsi has been active in trying to protect the Vjosa-Narta Protected Landscape against ongoing construction of an international airport, and the newly announced luxury resort to be built on the coastline. Environmentalists fear the noise and light pollution from both the airport and resort will have a detrimental impact on birds and other wildlife in the area.
A bottle of Vukoje Grand Cru is served at the Vukoje Winery in Trebinje. Vukoje was the first privately registered winery in Herzegovina, and has been in operation since 1982. Their wines have won major international awards and are currently exported to over 30 countries, and even found in several Michelin star restaurants in London. Their vineyards are strategically placed to utilise the unique mineral profiles of the surrounding karst lansdcapes of Trebinje. The stone surroundings are so important to Radovan Vukoje, the winery's owner, that they form an integral part of his slogan for the winery "The stone is the soul of my land, and the land is the soul of my wine."
