In the war between G-9 and G-Pèp in July, armed men raped Julienne*, then a 6-month pregnant mother of four as she was returning from a search for purified water near an area coined Deyè Mi, or “Behind the Wall”, a border crossing between the two rival gang territories. Julienne* dropped off three of her children at an orphanage in Hinche near the border of the Dominican Republic because she fears they will be recruited in the gangs or that the same fate will befall them as it did her. Julienne* hasn’t left her home in Cité Soleil because there is nowhere else to go. Port-au-Prince Haiti

Shortly after their wedding, stuck together at home during countrywide lockdowns protesting the Petrocaribe scandal, he started to physically and emotionally abuse her.
