Benard Omwaka

I am a photographer and communication practitioner with a strong background in journalism, visual storytelling and media training. Through the lens of my camera, I document the beauty of nature, people, and everyday life telling simple but powerful stories from my surroundings and travels.  Over the years, I’ve built a diverse portfolio that includes travel, nature documentary, environmental, humanitarian, and creative work among others. My photography has been featured in both individual projects and collaborations with NGOs, CBOs, and media houses. Apart from my experience as a photojournalist I have experience in the humanitarian sector as multimedia producer and trainer. Beyond capturing moments and telling stories, I’m passionate about photography as a tool for social change. I’ve facilitated workshops that equip young people with photography skills emphasizing visual ethics, narrative, and impact. Whether working in the city, in rural areas or marginalized areas such as refugee communities, documenting change in local spaces, or leading creative mentorships, I remain committed to stories that connect us to the world and to each other.
