Family members visit a diseased at Rorotan Public Cemetery in Northern Jakarta, Indonesia August 6, 2021. A cemetery exclusively for Covid-19 victims opened in northern Jakarta in March this year is a grim reminder of the Covid-19 pandemic that has claimed more than 140,000 lives so far in Indonesia, the world 4th populous nation. The surge in new cases peaking from 2,600 in mid-May to 54,500 in mid-July in the wake of the large Muslim holiday and emergency of a highly infectious Delta variant of the virus overwhelmed a healthcare system. According to a government health survey based on a random antibody testing carried out in early June, nearly half of the nation’s capital Jakarta's residents may have contracted Covid-19.
