Jan Litomisky was in the eighties mprisoned by the communist regime for anti-state activities. He was in prison together with the first democratic president of the Czech Republic, playwright Václav Havel. After his release, the communists continued to harass and bully him. In 2023, Jan Litomiský was awarded the Memory of the Nation Award, which is awarded to important personalities by the prestigious NGO Post Bellum/Memory of the Nation.
