Summary
A "Guerrilla Girls" style response to to gallery misogyny. Female nudes, seen as benign because women are considered the fairer sex, are remarkably prevalent, whereas male genitalia is rarely displayed in galleries. The photographer created this project in protest. Deemed to lurid for the show for which it was intended, "Get Your Jollies" was later exhibited at "Something Figurative, This Way Comes" with Accrete Art Collective at Backspace Gallery, Bloomington, IN, USA.

PROJECT GOALS:

1.) Objectification of the male form.
2.) No male input or involvement.
3.) Explore themes of consent. Unsolicited penis pictures sent without consent can feel threatening. Will penis art photography feel hostile?
4.) Elevate the dick pic. Funny, tasteful, fascinating.

THEMES: Female photographer shooting male genitalia. The penis as seen and interpreted by a woman. The clown is both terrifying and comedic. Fear and comedy are common themes in penis humor.

Encourage a discussion: replicas (sex toy) vs real anatomy? Could this be done with a real penis? Would that be porn? Can porn be art?

The feminine form and female nudity is portrayed as beautiful in art, but male genitalia is often seen as grotesque. Is there a way to "soften" penis photography to make it more approachable?
