While going through a period of aloneness, I relied on my camera and New York City to get me through. In exploring such a complex emotion, a theme organically emerged in my photos, one that I had not previously articulated: the book in a public space is a vessel to be out in public and also to become secluded from the world around you. It provides the thrill of being out while transporting you to another space all together.
