The family sells milk and meat to earn a living. she milks the cows in the evening. a liter of milk costs 500 Uganda shillings, much less than a dollar. She deliveries milk to neighbors around their house and at the trading center.
If not for the COVID pandemic, Happy would be in a classroom learning. Her story is not different from many other children who have been forced out of school due to the pandemic.
Happy is a senior three student of Kabwoya senior Secondary School in Kabwoya Sub-County, Hoima District. She has been home since her school was closed in March 2020 as a preventive measure to fight COVID-19 pandemic. "I miss school a lot. These days I spend the day helping my father to herd cattle and milking.
With a lot of hope, Happy holds onto her dreams of becoming a lawyer after her education. Today she remains hopeful that her school will be open very soon.
