As someone who has a great deal of difficulty just staying still, the impulse that makes people stay in one place is a mystery in itself and what I seek to tap into, that "hereness". Is it work, monetary hardship, love of family, natural beauty? As I roam, I look for that which keeps others anchored. Along the way I've been witness to incredible displays of dignity as people go about their lives in the most mundane of settings. There's astonishing beauty contained in the every-day, if you know where to look. I purposely seek out people at work for this very reason, in the full knowledge that we are so frequently defined by what we do.  It has been such fertile territory for me. There's a very special aura about someone totally immersed in doing something that they know how to do with expert ease. These unguarded moments can be visual poetry.
