When a person thinks of a normal college house show, a jazz lineup is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. Then again, The Harrington is anything but normal. Imagine this: a crowd packed into a basement, black tie outfits (yes, there was a dress code), and cigarette smoke hanging in the air. It was a heady backdrop for the musicians to reinterpret classic jazz standards. Taken at two different shows — one in 2023 and one in 2024 — these images share one of the most unique presentations of college music culture I've ever seen.
I met most of the Harrington Boys (a collective nickname for the guys who ran the house) my freshman year of university. They told me that there was no one else they trusted to photograph this event. It meant the world to hear.
