Summary
My photographic project delves into the everyday lives, lifestyles, and evolving self-identities of this younger Rwandan generation. By capturing their unique perspectives and experiences, I aim to shed light on the resilience and creativity of these young people, as they forge a new path in a society still healing from the scars of its tragic history.
In Kigali, Rwanda, the legacy of the Rwandan genocide casts a long shadow over the lives of its young residents, many of whom are 25 years old or younger. How do these individuals navigate self-expression and identity, while acknowledging a past they scarcely remember but must continue to carry forward? My photographic project delves into the everyday lives, lifestyles, and evolving self-identities of this younger Rwandan generation. By capturing their unique perspectives and experiences, I aim to shed light on the resilience and creativity of these young people, as they forge a new path in a society still healing from the scars of its tragic history.
