Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the Baltic countries, small but strategic in the defense of an ideia of unite Europe threaten by the new Russia, a fight that pass the Cold War issues and now is more economical with the aim to recreate and empire inspired more to the Tzar than to Lenin.
The calm waters of the Baltic Sea, the green lowlands and the smooth hills have witness wars, invasion and the rise and fall of the nazi and soviet empires. The last Russian troops left the Baltic States in 1994 and the last Russian military radar stoped working in 1998, officially. In 2004 the Baltic states officially joined the European Union.
Today the Baltic States are officially in the European Community, searching for their own path and under the pressure of Russia they trying to move on from the past that not only marked the thoughts but also - with statues and building - the territory. After the joining to the EU the Baltics Countries received a huge amount of funding, they are today on their feet, but will they remember that the Community isn’t only economics and and financial discipline but also equity and solidarity?
