In Western Australia, an Aboriginal boys mission was est. in 1858 and an Aboriginal girls mission est. in 1861. My maternal grandmother spent several years at this mission. In 2017, along with my mother and two younger sisters, we visited the site. It was the first time I had stepped foot in this place, and it was a surreal moment. I photographed my family, as they wandered around the site, reflecting on the history.
