In Philadelphia Schools, Students and Teachers Log Miles Together

In April & May I spent some time with the students and mentors of Students Run Philly Style. This is a running club after school for kids in grades 6-12 and from all different parts of the city. It's not based on competition, but rather to keep kids healthy and be part of a community.
Every student we connected with felt this club was like a second family for them. The mentors are teachers, parents or past students from the club. As they run together, they develop relationships with other students and with mentors in the community. The program serves over 1,200 students. Most kids don't come from a running background but so many of them have already run the Broad Street Run (10 miles) and/or the Philadelphia Marathon.
Check out the story in my link! Thanks so much to Amy Wolff for believing in this story and helping me along the way.
