In their own words: Voices of high school admissions, round two

Choosing a public high school to attend in New York City is akin to the "Hunger Games," some parents will tell you. Kids either look at it as an exciting process that will finally get them to the cool world of high school or as a stressful one that promises no guarantees of a solid academic future. The reality of "school choice" and matching kids to schools in New York City is actually tied to a complicated Nobel Prize winning algorithm.

Last weekend a few classmates and I from LynNell Hancock's Covering Education class teamed up with Chalkbeat New York to report on this complex world. We went out to a Round 2 High School fair to talk to middle schoolers who are still searching for a school after receiving their placements in the Round 1 application process.
