Clara de Tezanos (Guatemala, 1986):
Guatemalan artist. She studied photography at an early age in Paris where she was plateau assistant for Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan magazines, as well as for important french fashion photographers. In 2009, upon her return she co-founded alongside JJ Estrada T. the Contemporary Photography Center, La Fototeca and the GuatePhoto Festival. As project director, she has designed the academic programming of the school and has been a teacher since the beginning of the project. She has participated as Chief Curator for Espacio Satélite, Fototropía, and 4 editions of the GuatePhoto Festival and as Editorial Director of multiple photography editions. For her cultural background she was awarded and received an award as the Guatemalan entrepreneur woman of 2015 and ambassador of Culture to U.S. government programs. As an artist, since 2009, her work has been exhibited in collective and individual exhibitions both in the country and internationally. Her series Todas Somos Marías was published in The New York Times. Between 2018-2020, she published her most recent work Piedra-Padre, Universo and Por Maniobras de un Terceto as visual poems that were selected finalist for renown international open calls for example the Aperture & Paris Photo First Book Award18, Photo España Mejor Libro del año 2020 and Rencontres d´Arles Book Awards 2020. Her more recent presentations has been held as solo shows in La Erre Guatemala, and La Nueva Fabrica Antigua Guatemala. Lastly she has participated with her work in Zona Maco, ArtLima and ArtParis with La Galería Rebelde.
