Damian VanCamp was born and raised in New York City. He was introduced to the visual and musical arts at a very early age, and has since developed his skill as both a visual artist and a classically-trained drummer.
After earning his BFA in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2007, Damian spent the better part of two years away from his art work to pursue his musical endeavors. But as these became ever more serious, he found himself with less and less time for his art. He has since returned to photography with a renewed sense of dedication, and plans to look introspectively to create a series of new, more personal works.
Damian's interests are well-rounded and wide-ranging. The most prevalent in his work currently include art history, theology, psychology, biology, and, more recently, personal struggles, experiences, and pit-falls. Damian regularly infuses his work with these broader interests, using them as mechanisms that help to formulate and enrich his work on both the conceptual and visual level.
Damian's strength as an artist lies in his ability to synthesize his many interests into bodies of work that distill larger ideas down to intelligent, visually-stimulating, and relevant works of art.
He currently lives and works in New York City.
